February 13, 2018 is the Special Primary Election for City Council. The top two vote-getters for Position 4, Position 5, Position 6, and Position 7 from the primary will advance to the April 24,2018 General Election.
This special election is a result of the City of Shelton citizens gathering signatures to place Proposition 1 on the November ballot, which then passed with a 64% vote. The proposition changes the City of Shelton from a three-person commission to a seven-person council, effectively opening four new positions.
Mail-in ballots will be sent out on Tuesday, January 23 that are due on Tuesday, February 13. Ballots may be sent in via the post office or voters can drop their ballots at Mason County Office Building #1, 411 N Fifth Street or at the drive-thru access at Shelton Timberland Regional Library, located at 710 W Alder St. Drop Boxes will be open 18 days prior to the election and will remain open until 8:00 PM on election day.
