Aug 1 Shelton Kiwanis Club Meeting

Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

The Shelton Kiwanis Club meets each Tuesday at Smoking Mo's Magnolia Room. Lunch begins at 11:30 AM with program from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. The programs cover a variety of topics from non-profits, governmental entities, and community members.

The Kiwanis Club of Shelton has been serving it's community since 1924 following sponsorship by the Olympia Club. Since that time, members have been active in the community serving "Pancakes in the Park" for over 60 years, awarding numerous scholarships to colleges, trade schools and the Kiwanis Youth Law Enforcement Camp.

Shelton Kiwanians have been keeping things clean by participating in the Washington Adopt-A-Highway Program for more than 20 years. The Club takes part in the OysterFest seafood festival each year and is active with city parks and the recent establishment of Shelton's first community garden, Catalyst Park.

Aug 9 Cancer Wellness Workshop

Featuring various topics and speakers, the Cancer Wellness Program is free an open to anyone with a cancer diagnosis, those in survivorship, their companions and caregivers.

The workshop is hosted by Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics Patient Navigator Karry Trout, BA, RG(R)(M), CN-BI, and facilitated by Harmony Hill Retreat Center's Faculty Members Denise Carrico, J. Fields, and Melissa Layer.

The workshops aim to help individuals feel a sense of control in their lives. By building confidence and emotional strength, participants will learn how to respond to stress and develop new skills for healing. The classess includ supportive group discussions, journaling, gentle movement, and creative arts to promote self-care and positive change.

Join us at the fabulous Cameo Boutique & Wine Shop for another fun summer Business After Hours event hosted by Gary & Pamela Hanson. As last year, this is a joint Chamber event with both the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce and the North Mason Chamber of Commerce so your networking goes even further!

Enjoy the serene drive to the Hood Canal, take in the salt air, and step onto the lawn at the beautiful Cameo Boutique for a relaxing networking evening with our friends and neighbors to the north for this joint after hours that has quickly become an annual event! What is more fun than shopping for resort wear, household décor, and unique beachy gifts along the Hood Canal? We can’t think of much except for doing so with delectable appetizers and a nice glass of wine while listening to the tunes of the Michael Anthony Pratt Band.

Business After Hours is a monthly event hosted at member businesses across the county and is a complimentary member benefit. If you are not a member yet, come check it out to see how you like it - just let us know in advance so we can welcome you when you arrive.

Vaccinations are part of a comprehensive community health and wellness plan, but sometimes, parents have difficulty finding time during the work week to have their children immunized. Mason General Hospital’s Oakland Bay Pediatrics, in partnership with the Shelton School District, will hold an Immunization Clinic on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Oakland Bay Pediatrics, 247 Professional Way in Shelton.

The Immunization Clinic is open to all school age children five years and up in Mason County. Join Armstrong Racing Foundation on Saturday, August 26 at Green Diamond recreation area for carnival games, raffles, auction, door prizes, food and live music with 4 Stroke Ride.

KAYO 96.9 has partnered with the foundation to do a carnival theme day at the lake to raise back packs for Mason County homeless children. The back packs will be distributed among the schools in Mason County.

The goal is 1,000 back packs. There are 776 reported homeless children in our 6 school districts.

Admission to the event is free and open to public.

There will be carnival games, live music, face painters, balloon artist, raffles, door prizes, fun trivia games and food, live music provided by 4 Stroke Ride.

The group, club, organizations that donates most back packs wins pizza from Domino's (four large, two-topping pizzas and two two-liters of soda ).
