You will go over the music for the term, talk further about the levels of performing opportunities, discuss scheduling, and answer any questions that you may have! We accept ages 14+ into this choir.

Anna’s Bay Chorale will be performing musical theatre for their 2019 Winter/Spring term! This term offers community members an opportunity to perform both classic and modern pieces of musical theatre, and is designed to accommodate any level of performer. Community members can engage at 3 different levels:
Level 1 - Support Choir
The support choir will be able to utilize their sheet music as they provide vocal support to the performance. There will not be choreography or blocking involved for the support choir, and support choir members can choose to sit or stand to accommodate their needs.
Level 2 - Chorus
The chorus will be off-book for the entirety of the numbers that they are in. Chorus members need to be willing to learn blocking and choreography as needed.
Level 3 - Soloist
Front and center is where you will be! With lots of solo opportunities this term, you may find yourself singing and/or dancing in the front of the scene that’s being played out. All solos will be off-book. Solos will be auditioned during week 3 of rehearsal.

Mar 9    Safety Day
In early spring, the skydiving season for much of the country is just crawling out of hibernation. Most skydivers don’t jump through the cold months as often as they do in the summer, and their skills are a bit rusty. That’s when Safety Day comes. Established in 1997 from an idea by Patti Chernis, Safety Day provides a worldwide forum at local drop zones to prepare jumpers for the year ahead. Safety Day promotes safety programs and helps inform jumpers of new developments and review important information and procedures. Activities typically include hands-on review and practice of safety procedures, seminars from skydiving operation professionals and experts, equipment evaluations and more. Most days end with a social get together. USPA encourages all jumpers of all experience levels to attend

Mar 12    Anna's Bay Chorale Winter/Spring 2019 Term: Musical Theater!
Come join Anna's Bay Chorale for the kick-off of their spring term! This is a great opportunity, especially for those who are undecided about participating, to come and check out what we are doing!

This term will include songs from…
Anything Goes
The Sound of Music

Mar 16    Alice in Wonderland Performance
Shelton Kiwanis Club & Foundation is proud to host Missoula Children's Theatre for two community performances of "Alice in Wonderland" starring local students. This original adaptation is based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass with music by David W. Simmons and lyrics by Lewis Carroll, William Shakespeare and David W. Simmons

Two public performances are scheduled for Saturday, March 16 at 3:00 and 7:00 PM in the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5 each and will be available at the door.

The story begins with Alice and her older sister Margaret reading together. Margaret becomes frustrated as Alice is curious about absolutely everything. Suddenly, a White Rabbit appears from nowhere. After a quick and nonsensical conversation, Alice follows the rabbit to a strange and wonderful place. In the course of her adventures, Alice meets a band of Flowers, the King and Queen of Hearts, the Knave and the rest of the suit of Cards, a giant Caterpillar, a Fish, a Frog, the Duchess, the Cook, the Cheshire Cat, the Gryphon, the Mock Turtle, a group of singing Lobsters, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse and Humpty Dumpty. Through it all, Alice grows “curiouser and curiouser” as to where she is and even who she is. In the end, the answers she seeks are unimportant. Wonderland is all nonsense, anyway. As the White Rabbit explains, “Nonsense is fun!”

The Shelton Kiwanis Foundation believes that participating in the performing arts hones important characteristics such as creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem. For more information visit www.sheltonkiwanis.weebly.com.

Mar 23    A Jazz Age Gala to Die For
To celebrate their upcoming trip to perform at Carnegie Hall, the Great Bend Center for Music will be turning Alderbrook Resort’s ballroom into a supper-club speakeasy known for its entertainment - and MURDER!

Help solve the mystery! In addition to live music, three courses prepared by Alderbrook Resort’s spectacular culinary team, and a cash bar, the evening will also feature an array of casino games, a small silent auction, and a raffle to win a trip for two to join Great Bend in New York City for the Great Bend Chorale and Youth Chorale’s Carnegie Hall premiere, Friday, May 24, 2019 (the Friday of Memorial Day weekend).

All proceeds for the evening will support that trip and the Great Bend Center for Music’s community programs (such as January’s free Peter & the Wolf performances at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center for 1,200+ local elementary school students).

Tickets are $99 and include all three courses and no-host bar.

They encourage costume formal attire in 1920s Great Gatsby style. You can find some great ideas in this terrific article, but note that formal options will be more in line with the characters and narrative of the evening’s murder mystery. Awards will be presented for Best Dressed Female, Male and Couple at the end of the evening!

Located on the Great Bend of Hood Canal, in the historic arts town of Union, Washington, the Great Bend Center for Music delivers research-based music programs for rural communities.

Mar 26    Anna's Bay Chorale Winter/Spring 2019 Term: Musical Theater!
Come join Anna's Bay Chorale for the kick-off of their spring term! This is a great opportunity, especially for those who are undecided about participating, to come and check out what we are doing!

This term will include songs from…
Anything Goes
The Sound of Music
Carousel
Phantom of the Opera
